Chapel Bridge, Lucerne
Lake Lucerne
Lion Monument, Lucerne

Immerse yourself in the heart of Switzerland and be swept away by its beauty.

Lucerne is situated in the scenic and historic centre of Switzerland. The town dates back to the Middle Ages when traders from Italy would bring their goods north via the mountain passes into Lucerne. It is still a centre for an enormous variety of Swiss precision made watches, Swiss army knives, Lindt chocolate and music boxes.

The commerce of Lucerne consists mainly in gimcrackery of the souvenir sort; the shops are packed with Alpine crystals, photographs of scenery, and wooden and ivory carvings. I will not conceal the fact that miniature figures of the Lion of Lucerne are to be had in them. Millions of them.
